The Most “Footballest” Country with The Lack of Talented Players

Indonesia, with more than 277 million population, is one of the countries that has a lot of people who love football. The expectation is that with more and more people liking football, there will be many potential young talents available. Surprisingly, Indonesia only has a few players who can play in leagues outside Indonesia, either in Asia or Europe. It is very strange considering that Indonesia actually has a lot of talented people, but they cannot develop for several reasons which I will mention below.

The Lack of Facilities

The first reason is of course the facilities, which will support the development of the players. Some stadiums do not even fulfill the good standards. Even before the stadium, football fields were still rare to be found in a village. In fact, the more often these talents touch the ball, the more familiar they become with the basic techniques of football. One way to make football games more frequent is to increase the number of facilities such as football fields and stadiums that meet the criteria.

The Lack of Youth Competition

Apart from facilities, the lack of youth competition also has a big impact. Competitions can raise the spirit of football in young children and also get them used to playing under competitive pressure. In addition, youth competition can also be a place for the birth of new talented players which will make it easier for scouts from league teams.

Be Professional

As I also stated in the previous post, discipline will also be the number one rule of football. Imagine if a player didn't maintain the nutrition of their food, underestimate extra training outside of regular training, and can't understand what the coach said. It will have a huge impact on the future of their career. There are many examples of players who were extremely talented at a young age, but vanished as they grew older. Foreign coaches who come to Indonesia always complain about Indonesian players who cannot be "involved" in European tactics that emphasize passing and moving. Therefore, some teams also utilize players from outside Indonesia who understand how modern football tactics work.

The reasons above are just a few examples of the many complex problems. Unequal facilities also play a role in the shortage of talented players. For example, football facilities such as football academies are mostly only found on the island of Java, whereas there are many children from the East part of Indonesia who are very talented and are named the Brazil of Indonesia because they gave birth to several players such as Boaz Solossa and Oktovianus Maniani. It would be a shame if these talents were not detected by talent scouts. All in all, the three reasons I have mentioned are important things that must be fixed, because it will also determine the future of Indonesian football.
