Ruben Amorim: The Red Devil's New Hope

Manchester United was in need of a head coach after the Dutch gaffer, Erik Ten Hag, was sacked. The new management, INEOS, has been considering several coaches before finally choosing former Sporting’s Coach, Ruben Amorim. A lot of Manchester United fans were happy after Eric was sacked—losing four games in the first 11 matches and ranked 14 for the first time in Manchester United history. In contrast, Ruben Amorim achieved three league titles since his arrival in Sporting. Of course, it will be good news for Manchester United fans, who feel dissatisfied with Erik Ten Hag’s coaching.

Ruben Amorim's arrival might give Manchester United a fresh approach since he has 3 center back combinations and 2 offensive wingbacks. It is quite new for Manchester United which previously used 4-2-3-1 formation including double pivot combination. However, will Ruben Amorim imply his philosophy? Can the players follow his tactic since there will be a huge change of gameplay?

Since the departure of Sir Alex, Manchester United has not been able to regain their position in the top table—except under Mourinho and Ten Hag’s coaching. The Red Devil has not found their perfect coach even after several changes of coaches. While the other team, for example Manchester City, has found their perfect captain for their boat—Pep Guardiola—who has applied his philosophy.

Ruben Amorim, of course, gives a fresh, yet hugely different approach. Sudden change of philosophy might lead to the team’s confusion. There might be players that don't fit his tactic since it needs two players behind a striker rather than two people cutting inside from the wing.

The Red Manchester is lacking a “second striker” that plays behind the striker. Several names for example, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount might fit the position. The winger for example, Rashford, Garnacho, and Amad Diallo nevertheless might not fit his tactic. His formation needed two wing backs rather than wingers. Therefore, these three need a slight change of their gameplay.

The probability of the line up might not really be different from the previous squad. It might need a slight change in the wing backs position. The goalkeeper should be Andre Onana, who has played impressively in this season. The three center backs might be the combination between Lisandro Martinez-De Ligt-Yoro. Lisandro and De Ligt are really stable this season, where those two have played fantastically in Ajax. The young potential, Leny Yoro, is still recovering from his injury, and the possibility of recovery coincides with the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

Wingback position is crucial for the tactic, which Mazraoui and Dalot might be the best choices. Double pivot might still be the same, which is Casemiro and Ugarte. Lastly, the three front might be filled by Bruno and Mount that support Hojlund as the real number nine.

However, as I said before, will the players follow the Amorim's philosophy? The players have been one of the problems that United had. There is a question that arose from the fans, which is “Is the problem of Manchester United the manager? or actually it is the player itself? Some fans argue about players that don't want to follow the manager’s philosophy.

Manchester United is considered one of the best teams in England, but they haven't found their perfect coach. Ruben Amorim's arrival gives hope for the fans because of the feeling of dissatisfaction with their team's gameplay that doesn't look like a big team. As long as the players follow the gaffer’s instructions, me as a fans will always support the Ruben Amorim's progress.
